\nOnce you book your flights. rental cars and places to stay, it is time to dig into planning the fun.
\nTreat yourself to a freshly made local juice and a yoga class at the Courtyard Juices and Fitness Center, located in downtown Christiansted. Check out their “live”class schedule to ensure your class is being held on site as some classes are still virtual. The open air studio is covered but not enclosed allowing for fresh airflow to keep you safe during your post-COVID vacation. Bring your mat and your mask.
\nWhile you’re in St. Croix, you will want to be sure to make time to soak up the sun at one of the many beaches. While no beach in the US Virgin Islands is considered private, many beaches will feel private as you will have them to yourself. Drive along the east end, south shore, north shore or west end roads that run along the sea shore to find a perfect spot. You’ll find some beaches right along the road, especially along the north shore and west end and others with driveways or walkways to bring you down to the shore such as Smugglers Cove on the far east end of the island.

Hand carved in the 1600’s by the Knights of Malta, Monk’s bath is an amazing salt water pool carved into the sea. You’ll want to have shoes, not just flip flops, if you have water shoes, even better.

Mount Eagle is the highest point on the island and boasts the best views you will find. The hike is short, maybe about a mile but it is 90% uphill on the way up and will take 30-45 minutes. The walk down is much faster at about 20 minutes. There isn’t much wildlife on the island aside from birds, the occasional birds and unpleasant crawly things but if you’re lucky you may spot a wild horse or mountain goat as we did on our first hike up the mountain. Head out early to avoid the midday sun which can be brutal.

If you are up for organized activities, you will want to give horseback riding a try. Cruzan Cowgirls will bring you on a guided ride through the rain forest and along the beach, all while staying at least 6 feet apart in the open fresh air. It’s a great way to experience the true beauty of the island. Cruzan Cowgirls is not only the go to place for horseback riding on the island of St. Croix but also serve as a resource to the community, providing education to owners and care to rescued animals as the only non-profit horse rescue on the island.
\nRestaurants may be closed for dining in when you visit St. Croix but St. Croix takeout or delivery will still be an option. One benefit of being somewhere that stays warm year round is a plethora of open air restaurant concepts. Whether you are looking to eat in (when allowed) or order take away that you pickup, open air restaurants are your friend when it comes to social distancing and safety during COVID and beyond.

Located on the Christiansted Boardwalk, Rum Runners is a St. Croix favorite for locals and tourists alike. Known for their steaks, local seafood and the best views of the harbor in Christiansted, you won’t regret adding them into your restaurant rotation during your post-COVID trip to the Caribbean.

Recently featured on Netflix’s Restaurants on the Edge, Louie and Nacho’s is a favorite among locals, serving up creative spins on tacos and nachos. Named for the owners dogs, Louie and Nacho’s are also a favorite thanks to their support of local rescue efforts of St. Croix Animal Welfare Center and Ruff Start Rescue among others. Their view is not too shabby either.

If you are looking for a home away from home type atmosphere, Castaways may be your place. The fare is traditional American bar food with some homemade touches. They are known for their wings, pizzas, burgers, reasonably priced drinks and friendly staff. They do offer a few gluten free options (wings, nachos and tots) as well as a vegan veggie burger and tofu sandwich (with no cheese) with a side of fries or tots.
\nIf you want to sample the local Crucian cuisine, try ordering takeout or delivery using the Island Direct app or website. Two great options, both typically available at Island Direct are the Cast Iron Pot or Singh’s Fast Food a try (get a pate, you’ll thank me). Feel like cooking? Island Direct also offers grocery delivery from Plaza West and Food Town grocery stores.

Bali is like something out of a dream. It’s like you found a hidden dimension where mankind harmonized with nature and spirituality and synthesized their individual beauties to form a hybrid super beauty.

It’s like a beautiful movie that you can live in and interact with but with a deep and meaningful culture that is predicated on Balinese Hindu-Buddhist religion and Balinese customs.

The Red Fort was built in 1648 by Shah Jahan and served as the seat of Mughal power until 1857. This beautiful structure is built with red sandstone walls and covers an area of little over two kilometers (2.41Km to be exact) which is almost as long as San Francisco, CA Golden Gate bridge which is 2.737 km in length.
\nThe main entrance to The Red Gate is called The Lahore Gate which faces towards Lahore in Pakistan, while even the greater Delhi Gate was used by the emperor for ceremonial purposes. While entering the Lahore Gate, guests reach Chhatta Chowk a 17th-century bazaar that sold items like silverware, jewelry, gems, and silk, along with food and souvenirs.
\nThe Naubat Khana inside The Red Fort once host musicians who perform for the emperor, many intriguing musical devices such as gongs, cymbals, and kettledrums.

The Lotus Temple, also known as Bahá’í House of Worship it has nine sides and a beautiful center dome. It’s composed of, marble, white concrete, and rising from the surrounding are nine pools of water.
\nThe entire structure looks like the white lotus flower. Surround the structure is nine pools of water. The temple was built in 1986 and attracted more than 70 million visitors, which makes it one of the world’s most visited places.

A good place to bring the family would be the National Zoological Park. It reported being one of the best zoos ins Asia, the park was established in 1959 and administer a haven to over 1500 animals.
\nThe wildlife on display is representative of all continents, which are Asia, Africa, and Australia. The zoo contains tigers, chimpanzees, jaguars, hippopotamuses, deers, spider monkeys, hyenas, and zebras.
\nThe kids will love or hate the underground reptile complex, which holds snakes like the deadly king cobra which can strike about a half the time it takes to blink your eye and has enough poison in its bite to kill a full-grown elephant in about 3 hours.

This is one of Delhi’s most significant place of worship named Gurdwara Bangle Sahib. It includes a gorgeous pool as well as a gold dome. The Gurdwara Kitchen serves free meals and guest are always welcome to visit there.
\nThe temple also hosts a school, a hospital, a museum, and a school. They just asked that you cover your hair and take off your shoes. It’s a good place to bring your family, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery and enjoy some delicious food.
\nThe Akshardham, this building looks stunning it looks like it was built 1000 years ago but it recently opens in 2007 which is only 12 years ago by the time I’m writing this article.
\nThis beautiful building attracts countless people for its magnificent beauty. It includes great carvings of dancers, plants, musicians, animals, plants, and gods. Its made from marble and sandstone.
\nThey have a stone tribute for elephants and a huge 3000-ton statue of one the beasts. Also included is theater showing a movie talking about the construction of the temple and a 15-minute boat ride showing India’s diverse culture and history and a large fountain that has a beautiful view at night.

\nThe city of New Delhi can reach temperatures up to 100°F. The perfect time to go to New Delhi is around the fall, that’s when the temperatures start to go down and the humidity level starts to go down.
\nIt is good to go around the beginning of spring because it’s at a decent temperature. If you go in the summer it gets really hot.
\nNew Delhi is a district located in Delhi. Traveling around New Delhi you start out using taxis. Since its a well-known place there would be plenty of traffic jams, it’s better to travel using the metro. Always check the hotel you reside in before going out.
\nAround January it is the coolest month with a moderate temperature of 57.5°F (14.2°C). In June its the hottest month with a high temperature of 94°F (34.3°C).
\nThe country of India is a cash economy, you can still use credit cards in most of New Delhi’s restaurants, hotels, and stores. It’s good to have Indian main form of currency which is called rupees and it is not the same as The Legend of Zelda rupees.
\nIt’s good to have rupees on hand for taxis and other small purchases awhile traveling around New Delhi. You can’t bring rupees outside the country if your not a legal resident of India, but there is plenty of ATMs to go to just make sure you exchange or pull out cash when you arrive at the airport.

To me, it is important to diversify your self and see the world from a different perspective. If you travel the world and see all the amazing things it can offer you can learn a lot more and change your lifestyle up depending and your needs and wants especially if you have a family to enjoy those times with.

Unfortunately, rock chipping isn’t anything new in the world of rock climbing and if you’re familiar with the sport, you’re also likely to be familiar with what it is. Rock chipping is a technique that uses tools to create artificial handholds on natural rock.
\nThis technique was widely practiced, and even accepted, for a long time. However, in the mid 90’s, climbers started to understand and agree that this practice seemed to defeat the purpose of climbing outdoors; manufacturing routes should be left to climbing gyms.
\nAny experienced climber knows that it’s impossible not to alter a rock with hardware before climbing it with a rope. They also know that even some of the holds need to be altered to an extent if they prove to be dangerous, but where is the ethical limit? How far is too far when setting a route? Ten Sleep Canyon might have the answer.

Louie Anderson moved to Ten Sleep Canyon, Wyoming from southern California to open a campground for climbers known as Rock Ranch. He owns several climbing gyms in California and is a well-known route setter in the climbing community.
\nWhile living in California, Louie created a climbing area that was found in an extracted quarry where he had drilled out all of the holds and pockets to make climbing the walls possible. This seemed to be somewhat accepted as the quarry was already a man-made structure and the area was considered an outdoor gym of sorts.

Ten Sleep Canyon was the perfect location for what Louie was trying to accomplish.
\nHe set up his public campground and quickly got to work setting routes throughout the canyon. Many people believe that his routes are simply a money making scheme as he also created a very popular guidebook for the area complete with all the routes he had manufactured.
\nEvery year this guidebook is updated and resold with his newly added routes. Between his campground and guidebooks, Louie is profiting off of his practices in Ten Sleep which muddies the ethical waters even more so.

I think it’s safe to say that there wouldn’t be as much controversy if the routes weren’t so egregious. Louie proudly claims which routes are his but refuses to admit to any sort of rock chipping or heavy manufacturing on any of them. One of the most unfortunate aspects is that a lot of the holds he drilled aren’t even necessary. The route could still exist and be climbable without any manufacturing; he simply wanted it to be easier.
\nHundreds of these routes are scattered throughout the entire canyon and there are even some areas with entire walls dedicated to routes that have been heavily manufactured. The chipping is blatantly obvious to even those who have no knowledge of rock climbing. In addition to the drilled out pockets are pieces of rock that have actually been glued on to the wall. A route that has been manufactured this heavily makes the rock completely unrecognizable and arguably unsafe.

Louie Anderson was confronted several times about removing these routes and trying to reach a compromise.
\nAfter numerous failed attempts, anything being done was proving to be a challenge. Every rock climber loves a challenge and in early July of 2019, a group of them came together and decided to take matters into their own hands.
\nArmed with headlamps, tools, and a purpose, 18 climbers spent several nights removing as many of these routes as they could. There were far too many routes for them to successfully strip all of them and settled for placing red padlocks on a number of routes they could not remove.
\nThey released a statement on Reddit to explain the motivation behind their actions and to try and create yet another spark – one within the entire climbing community. The group has remained anonymous as they have received some backlash for their actions within Ten Sleep.
\nIt isn’t that people don’t agree that rock chipping to this degree is uncalled for, the backlash comes from how to respond to it. Many climbers believe that removing these routes simply creates a war without a winner and merely destroys the rock even further.

The name comes from a Western African word for okra; however, the origin is widely disputed.
\nGumbo is typically enjoyed as rich, flavorful soup, sometimes served over a spoon of rice. The main ingredients that make gumbo thick are okra, file powder, and roux. File powder and okra can be found in local supermarkets. Roux can be made by toasting flour in fat until it develops a brown color. Another main ingredient that makes the base for gumbo is the “Holy Trinity”, the mix of bell pepper, onions, celery, garlic, and shallots.

Louisiana owns the oyster industry. In New Orleans you can find any type you want: fattiest, saltiest, fried, baked, char-grilled. Char-grilled oysters are the New Orleans symbolic meal.
